Elisabeth Fontaine, MD

Overview: Dr. Fontaine is double board-certified in OB-GYN and lifestyle medicine and a fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Her premedical background was in Obesity Management and Exercise Physiology. While practicing as an OB-GYN and seeing her patients growing unhealthier, she implemented a program, the Better U Program, focused on lifestyle modification with amazing results. She also directed several Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) learning modules – a program designed to prevent, reverse, and treat chronic disease with an emphasis on a whole plant-based diet to improve lifestyle and sustain this healthy behavior. Dr. Fontaine started a lifestyle medicine clinic and became the medical director of lifestyle medicine at a community hospital and a founding member of RiseVT, a community collaborative embracing healthy lifestyles.

Training Institutions: Dr. Fontaine attended medical school and OB-GYN at Laval University in Québec, Canada. She also received her MS in Obesity and Exercise Physiology and BS in Kinesiology at Laval University. Dr. Fontaine was a Leadership and Integrative Healthcare Fellow at Duke University and received her Plant-based Certification at Cornell University.

Clinical Expertise: Dr. Fontaine specializes in women who are healthy and desire to learn and advance to their optimal health. She has an extensive background in women’s health and the impact of lifestyle in the transition through menopause.

My Philosophy: Using a lifestyle medicine approach, I strive to help people learn how to take charge of their health journey. I am passionate and driven to help people achieve lifestyle changes to improve the collective community's health. I have a significant interest in assisting women that desire to improve their personal exercise performance such as marathon running, triathlon training, biking, etc.
